4 Marvel Characters That Deserve Netflix Shows

This past September, we were graced with the tour de force that was Marvel’s Luke Cage.  And with the recent announcements of Iron Fist, The Defenders and The Punisher, a lot of Marvel and Netflix fans are wondering where do they go from here? Sure we will see returns from the Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Punisher, but what new series can be made to push the MCU Netflix Universe further? With that in mind, I present to you not only four Marvel characters that should have their own show, but how that show could work.

1. Ghost Rideraos-4x1-ghost-rider-copertina

I know I have beaten this horse to the point where it might actually catch on fire, but after three episodes of the fourth season of Agents of Shield, Ghost Rider is an absolute hit. Not only is it proven he can work on a television budget, but the way he looks as the Rider makes it even more of a possibility. Robbie Reyes is a good of enough character to where you can have him shotgun his own series on Netflix, allowing him to be more dark and more menacing.

Plot: This can go one of two ways. He can either have a series set prior to his run-in with Quake in which he is hunting down his killers, shows how he got his powers, and how he balances a normal life and as the Rider. The second way you could do this is make his series be directly impacted by the events of Doctor Strange. The rider could travel across the world, banishing evil spirits, fighting off the forces of darkness, and you can even put in characters such as Blackheart, Blackout, Mephisto for him to battle against. Finally, you make this series even better by having a true Ghost Rider hunt him down and test his mettle. This series could essentially be Supernatural and Sons of Anarchy turned up to a thousand and with the right cast, it could definitely be something worth watching.

2. Bladeblade

While Marvel is actively shutting down any talks of a Blade series coming soon, I personally think they need to dive back into this market. Sure you have had a thriller in Jessica Jones, but Blade brings a horror aspect that made the movies worth watching. Now in no way am I saying we have Wesley Snipes come back and play Blade, but ive actually got another way of spinning this in which Snipes could be involved.

Plot: In 2015, a story came out about Blade’s daughter, Fallon Grey, getting her own comic series and her having a run-in with her father. Since then, the comic has been shelved and has not come out yet. And I think it’s because they have plans to make it into a show. The way you do it is make her a 20-something in college who knows full well about her father and the world in which the both of them come from. She decides to stay out of this world, wanting a normal life, until she finds out through being attacked that her father has been captured somewhere in Europe and needs her help. You do this by having a son or nephew of Whistler find her and tell her they need to work together to find him. Throughout the show, the two of them not only hunt down monsters, but we also get a look into the original Blade( Snipes) train his daughter and the strained relationship they have. Not only will this show be the second Marvel show headlined by an African-American lead, but be one of the few shows with a female lead and it will bring in a huge audience of the horror genre, especially if it’s released around Halloween weekend.

3. TaskMaster

Now this may not be a character people are fully familiar with but let me say that Taskmaster is one of the few people who could carry his own show within the MCU. For more information on the character, check him out here, but for those who refuse to click links, essentially think Marvel’s version of Jason Bourne. But how could you do his character within the MCU?

Plot: Knowing Taskmaster’s ability to memorize anyone’s moves and movement into his own arsenal, what if he is an underground S.H.I.E.L.D agent that is asked to infliltrate and eliminate other shadow organizations such as A.I.M. or Roxxon? By having him know the fighting styles of most of the Avengers, you essentially could have a walking Avengers team with him traveling around the world to stop bad things from happening. The plot could also have Phil Coulson as his handler and Taskmaster’s wife, Mercedes Merced as his on site assistant for different missions. This show could easily be Marvel’s answer to DC’s Arrow and could give it a run for their money.

4. Elektra

Marvel's Daredevil

Now I know you are probably confused about this choice but hear me out. As much as Elektra was involved in the second season of DareDevil, she was NOT the character being built to using the season as a backdoor pilot, that title goes to The Punisher ,which will come out in late 2017. With that being said, Elodie Yung definitely deserves her own show and she has shown to have the charisma and acting skill to fully bring the character to life, unlike her solo movie( Sorry Jennifer Garner). But how do we do a story on a character we have already seen? And, lest we not forget, is dead?

Plot: Okay, this is me just theorizing but I think the end of season 2 of Daredevil ties DIRECTLY into Iron Fist. If you go back and watch the trailer again, you see someone who looks exactly like the Bride of Nine Spiders attacking Danny Rand, along with Madame Gao in the trailer. Another hint is that Madame Gao in Season 2, episode 11 “.380” There is the scene in which Gao is painting paper cranes in front of Daredevil and also in the first season she has drugs with a snake drawn on them. Now for that reason alone, I believe two things: First that Madame Gao is actually Crane Mother from the “Immortal Iron Fist” storyline AND that  part of the season will deal with the infamous tournament. Now how does that tie into Elektra? Well, what if the Hand, who currently are doing something with her body, are making her into an Immortal Weapon? By doing this and having her go up against Iron Fist, you do multiple things: One, you give Danny a reason to be in the sights of the Hand, two, if Danny can heal her, it allows her to be clear of both Iron Fist and Daredevil and three, it makes her more powerful and enough to carry her own show. Her show could be purely about her working with the Caste, unbeknownst to Daredevil in destroying the Hand across the world. With the superior acting Yung showed by playing the character, you know she can bring it and this storyline of her going up against the Hand could lead to a possibly Daredevil storyline where we could have “Shadowlands”.

Those are my four characters and how you do a TV show with them and personally, these four characters deserve it more than anything. I think Marvel is just scratching the surface of what they can do and I can’t wait to see what they have coming.
